Paul Anka - I Go to Extremes & Medley 2007 live
Paul Anka celebrates his 50th anniversary
1. I Go to Extremes
Call me a joker, call me a fool
Right at this moment I'm totally cool
Clear as a crystal, sharp as a knife
I feel like I'm in the prime of my life
Sometimes I feel it's going too fast
I don't know how long this feeling will last
Maybe it's only tonight
Darling I don't know why I go to extremes
Too high or too low there ain't no in-betweens
And if I stand or I fall
It's all or nothing at all
Darling I don't know why I go to extremes
Sometimes I'm tired, sometimes I'm shot
Sometimes I don't know how much I've got
Maybe I'm headed over the hill
Maybe I've set myself up for the kill
Tell me how much you think you can take
Until this heart in you is starting to break?
Sometimes I feel like it will
Darling I don't know why I go to extremes
Too high or too low there ain't no in-betweens
You can be sure when I'm gone
I won't be out there too long
Darling I don't know why I go to extremes,
go to extremes.
And if I stand or I fall
It's all or nothing at all
Darling I don't know why I go to extremes
Satisfied it seems
don't know why I go to extremes,
even in my dreams.
2. Diana
I'm so young and you're so old
This, Diana, I've been told
I don't care just what they say
'Cause forever I will pray
You and I will be as free
As the birds up in the trees
Oh, please stay by me, Diana
Oh, please, Diana
Oh, please, Diana - Diana
3. Put Your Head On My Shoulder
Put your head on my shoulder
Hold me in your arms, baby
Won't you kiss me once, baby
Tell me, tell me that you love me too.
Put your head on my shoulder
Whisper in my ear, baby
you wanna picture over here
give me your camera, give it to me
I'll give you a good one
that you can see.
4. You Are My Destiny
You are my destiny
You are what you are to me
You are my dream come true
That's what you are
You are my destiny
You share my reverie
You are, my dreams come true
That's what you are

Everyday my papa would work
To try to make ends meet
To see that we would eat
Keep those shoes upon my feet
Every night my papa would take me
And tuck me in my bed
Kiss me on my head
After all my prayers were said
And there were years
Of sadness and of tears
Through it all
Together we were strong
We were strong
Times were rough
But Papa he was tough
Mama stood beside him all along
Growing up with them was easy
The time had flew on by
The years began to fly
They aged and so did I
And I could tell
That mama she wasn't well
Papa knew and deep down so did she
So did she
When she died
Papa broke down and he cried
And all he could say was, "God, why her? Take me!"
Everyday he sat there sleeping in a rocking chair
He never went upstais
Because she wasn't there
Then one day my Papa said,
"Son, I'm proud of how you've grown"
He said, "Go out and make it on your own.
Don't worry. I'm O.K. alone."
He said, "There are things that you must do"
He said, "There's places you must see"
And his eyes were sad as he
As he said goodbye to me
Every time I kess my children
Papa's words ring true
He said, "Children live through you.
Let them grow! They'll leave you, too"
I remember every word Papa used to say
I kiss my kids and pray
That they'll think of me
Oh how I pray
They will think of me
That way
Someday

You share my reverie
You are my happiness
That's what you are
You have my sweet caress
You share my loneliness

No matter where you are in the world, here is something to consider. We all have favorite picture albums with those cherished moments. Give someone their very own Picture Story, in karaoke style, created, produced and posted right on the net. A collage of their pictures is all it takes, old new whatever, maybe a pet. It's up to you. The initial 10 people to inquire will have their wish come true, no charge. I'm doing this as a test to help design an ongoing karaoke series and I seek your feedback. Free to the First 10 people to respond. You will be able to save the video and keep it forever. I'm testing this contact avenue.

My tribute to the ever-stunning, always glamorous, Raquel Welch. Men, I'm sure, fall madly in love with her, still, as the years go by. We gals who adore her, have always admired her beauty and style. And she's still a stunner.
The song is Paul Anka's "She's A Lady" sung by Tom Jones. Both of whom are favorites of mine, as well. So this was a true joy to put together.
Raquel, you go girl! She's a timeless beauty.

Genre: Thriller
Cast: Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper, Jeremy Piven, Jason Bateman, Ali Suliman, Ashraf Barhoum
Directed by: Peter Berg
Screenplay by: Matthew Michael Carnahan
Based on a Story by: Peter Berg & Matthew Michael Carnahan
Produced by: Michael Mann, Scott Stuber
Executive
Producers: Mary Parent, John Cameron, Sarah Aubrey, Steve Saeta
Director Peter Berg, who blisteringly reinterpreted the high-school sports drama with the celebrated Friday Night Lights, producer Michael Mann (Heat, The Insider, The Aviator, Miami Vice), and producer Scott Stuber (You, Me and Dupree, The Break-Up) join Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx in a timely thriller about the explosive clash that happens when Middle East meets West: The Kingdom.
Foxx stars as whip-smart FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury, who has just received the assignment of his career: assemble an elite team (played by Jennifer Garner, Oscar® winner Chris Cooper and Jason Bateman) and go to Riyadh to hunt down and capture the terrorist mastermind behind a deadly attack on Americans working in Saudi Arabia. The feds have only one week to infiltrate and cripple a cell bent on jihad to western society.
No training could prepare Fleury and his team for the disorienting culture shock they face once inside this scorching foreign land—a byzantine maze of profiteering politicians and storefront terrorists. Bound by handlers who refuse to play ball with the U.S., the agents quickly find the local law enforcement more hindrance than help and soon grow uncertain of anybody's allegiance.
But when a sympathetic Saudi police captain helps them navigate Riyadh politics and investigate the true cause of the attack, Fleury finds an unexpected comrade-in-arms. In their lightning fast attempt to crack the case, the partners' search leads them straight to the killers' front door. Now in a fight for their own lives, two teams on opposite sides of the war on terror won't stop until vengeance is found in The Kingdom.

The 1974 BBC-Shirley Bassey show. Part 6 (Last part): It is amazing to see the BBC-shows and what they made Shirley do: she sang in planes, boats, cars, rockets airballoons on waterskis, on a horse and even on a tandem.
About the dress Dame Shirley Bassey is wearing for this show:
A black evening gown comprising: a bias cut stage gown with low-cut back and fitted bodice with spaghetti straps, the black gauze ground embroidered over all with black sequins, the neckline inset with black net, labelled inside Loris Azzaro Paris;
Dame Shirley wore the Loris Azzaro gown during a BBC. Television special, 1974. The album illustrated - I Am What I Am, Towerbell Records, 1984 - also shows her wearing this dress on the cover. Final Price. Sold at Christies £3,200
Lyrics My way:
And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which Im certain.
I've lived a life thats full.
I've traveled each and evry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, Im sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.
I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.
For what is a woman, what has she got?
If not herself, then she has naught.
To say the things she truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
The Greatest Performance Of My Life
Sometimes also entitled:
Tonight I Gave The Greatest Performance Of My Life
Written by Roberto 'Sandro' Sánchez / Oscar Petri Anderle.
English lyrics by Robert I. Allen.
Released on the 1972 album I Capricorn and on a single. The album has been re-released digitally remastered on CD and additionally this song is available on the CD collections The Greatest Hits - This Is My Life (European release) and Bassey - The EMI/UA Years 1959 - 1979.
Shirley Bassey has performed this song live on some concerts and shows which is always very emotional. You can see that her eyes must be filled with tears at the end of the song. A live performance has been released on Live In Japan '77 and on the 1995 video An Audience With Shirley Bassey.
The Argentinean composer team Sandro / Anderle have written more than 100 songs together, and I assume that this was originally one of their many Spanish compositions (obviously from 1968). Sandro is an Argentinean pop balladist. He was born Roberto Sánchez in 1945. He was successful not only in Argentina as singer, song-writer and later also as actor.
Robert Allen translated the song to English. He is a pop composer who worked much together with lyricist Al Stillman. I don't know how the original Spanish title was, before the translation.
This song had been sung in English by Nancy Wilson on an album 1971, but I don't know if the song has been translated for her, or if anyone else has performed it in English before her.
Lyrics The greatest performnace of my life:
Tonight I gave the greatest performance of my life
I never lost control,
I played the part so well
That not a single soul could tell that I was lying
And so though it was hard to face our friends
I gave a party
I know I meant to show them all
I've gotten over you
And though I saw the unbelieving looks on all their faces
I had to try to make them think that it was true
So I who hardly dance,
danced through the night,
just like a gypsy
And I who seldom drink,
drank like a fish till I was high
And I who hadn't laughed since God knows when,
out laughed Pagliacci
Till they believed it more than even I
Tonight I gave the greatest performance of my life
I never lost control,
I played the part so well
That not a single soul could tell that I was lying
But love if you had been behind the curtain when it fell
When all the lights were out and I was all alone
You would have seen this actress crying
Yes, tonight I gave the greatest performance of my life
I never lost control,
I played the part so well
That not a single soul could tell that I was lying
But love if you had been behind the curtain when it fell
When all the lights were out and I was all alone
You would have seen this actress crying
