It wasn't Placebo. Haven't figured out who it was, but definitely not Placebo.
Original song is by Kate Bush.Placebo covered it which is what is heard in the episode.

It didn't sound like them to me at first (I also thought it was Jimmy Jorgensen), but if you listen to the right parts of their song it clearly is Placebo's version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKkaLM9NcSo
The version on W13 gets a TAD more rockish with the instruments then Jorgensen's beautiful rendition. Never heard this song before watching this episode, really like it.
And finally, I tried to stand happily corrected and find a version by Track and Field and found absolutely nothing. She must be mistaken.
I doubt she's mistaken - the song hasn't been released on itunes yet.
Actually, if you go to Wikipedia they say it WAS the Placebo version played during the finale.

Allison Scagliotti twittered that it was by Track and Field, I think it was really by the group? called Stars of Track and Field. The group, Track and Field (Track n Field) only performs instrumentals.
It sounds like it is at least the vocalist from Placebo however I think the actual music that it is put to is being played by Track n Field
